Pastor Tozer had 44 years of ministry associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), which is a Protestant Evangelical denomination. He was first a Pastor in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia before he became the Pastor of Southside Alliance Church in Chicago for 30 years. He lived the last part of his life as Pastor of Avenue Road Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

A. W. Tozer, in his book 'Pursuit Of God', provided many "what do we believe about God?" quotes. For example his claim that, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us” provide a valuable insight. And his statement that, “God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which he must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves,” has provided comfort and inspiration to many.

- A. W. Tozer.

25. "The true Church has never sounded out public expectations before launching her mission. Her leaders heard from God, they knew their Lord’s will and did it. Their people followed them- sometimes to triumph, oftener to insults and public persecution – and their sufficient reward was the satisfaction of being right in a wrong world."

- A. W. Tozer.

26. "The most critical need of the church at this moment is men, bold men, free men. The church must seek, in prayer and much humility, the coming again of men made of the stuff of which prophets and martyrs are made."

- A. W. Tozer.

27. "There is scarcely anything so dull and meaningless as Bible doctrine taught for its own sake. Truth divorced from life is not truth in its biblical sense, but something else and something less."

- A. W. Tozer.

28. "We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts.”

- A. W. Tozer, 'The Pursuit Of God'.

29. "I want the presence of God Himself, or I don’t want anything at all to do with religion. You would never get me interested in the old maids’ social club with a little bit of Christianity thrown in to give it respectability. I want all that God has, or I don’t want any."

- A. W. Tozer.

30. "Religion today is not transforming the people - it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society - it is descending to society's own level and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smiling accepting its surrender."

31. “All our lives long we might talk of Jesus, and yet we should never come to an end of the sweet things that might be said of Him. - A. W. Tozer.
