Patch Adams has dedicated his life to doing good to people by showing care and compassion wherever his journey takes him.

Born on 28 May 1945 as Hunter Doherty 'Patch' Adams, his family lived for most of his early life in army camps. After his father sadly passed away in 1961, Patch and his family moved to Virginia.

Most of his inspiring life teachings came from his mother, who taught him to treat everyone with love and compassion. This he did, and it even got him into some trouble as he was bullied by his schoolmates when he stood up against injustice. These experiences resulted in him having to go to the hospital regularly, but he was determined to live for others, for love and happiness. He realized the best way to achieve this was to become a doctor, so he pursued a medical degree.

He imagined a place where any patient would be treated equally for their diseases, where everyone could gather without any segregation and where doctors could treat their problems all for free. And so in 1971, he established The Gesundheit Institute, which did exactly that.

He organizes a trip around the world every year, where he and his friends go and meet patients and children, spreading joy while dressed as clowns. His life has been brought to the screen by Robin Williams in the movie 'Patch Adams' (1998), a film that is both humorous and wholesome.

Patch Adams is a true inspiration in a world that needs all the peace and love it can get. Here are some of the best Patch Adams quotes to learn his ways. If you like these Patch Adams quotes, check out these [doctor quotes] and [comedian quotes] too!
