There are loads of Christmas events happening across the city, but sometimes it can be hard to find the best festive toddler activities. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered and have put together a round-up of the best things for you and your little one to do over the holiday season.

Festive Play at The V&A

The V&A are hosting free festive play sessions for under-5s! These sessions are based on the 12 Days Of Christmas and a great chance to get moving and have some fun. Warm up your vocal chords and be prepared for a singalong too.

Circus 1903

This is a brilliant way to captivate and entertain kids and adults alike! Circus 1903 is returning to The Southbank Centre this Christmas. Fortnum and Mason’s Christmas Window

The Fortnum and Mason Christmas Windows are purrfect for little ones this year! The displays show cats working behind the scenes to prepare the shop's world famous hampers. Complete with bright colours and moving parts, the windows are sure to engage and excite the kids. 

Charlie and Her Magic Ukulele

If your little one is musical you don’t want to miss out on these free singalong sessions. Charlie and her magic ukulele are heading to The Museum of London and The Museum of London Docklands over the Christmas season to spread a bit of festive cheer.

Walking With The Snowman

Bundle up and get the buggy out, Walking With The Snowman is a brilliant sculpture trail as part of Christmas By The River at London Bridge. The famous festive character is brought to life through brilliant models, each decorated beautifully by different artists.

Speaking of The Snowman, why not go and see the live show as it returns to The Peacock Theatre for yet another year! It’s a magical performance filled with excitement and wonder. Carnaby Street Christmas Lights 

The Carnaby Street Christmas Lights are a great option if you’re wondering which ones to visit this year. They’re in aid of the oceans conservation charity, Project 0, so there is a brilliant underwater theme. As well as the lights, there are some sea-life models, including a 5m whale that blows bubbles! If you want to avoid the crowds it’s best to visit the lights on weekdays before 4pm.

FLY-KID host great family-friendly hip-hop and RnB parties. On the 7th of December they’re getting into the Christmas spirit and putting on a festive edition! It’s a great chance to listen to some smash-hits and get moving in a safe environment that welcomes kids of all ages.

The Twelve Rebuilds of Christmas

The Savoy probably isn’t the first place you’d think to take a toddler this Christmas but think again! This year they’ve decked their halls out with lego to create some of the city’s most unique decorations. Get up close to the dragon or have a look in the princess tower. There’s even some lego for you to play with after you've had a look around.

Olaf and Elsa’s Frozen Christmas Adventure

For something a bit different, join Creative Movements for Olaf and Elsa’s Frozen Christmas Adventure! Your little ones will be immersed in a wintery wonderland through storytelling, music, movement and role play in order to help the Frozen characters have the best Christmas ever!


The newly released animated kids film, Abominable, is showing at the Regent Street Cinema on the 28th of December. It’s a great one to go and see if you’re wanting to get out of the house but stay in from the cold between Christmas and New Year.

Santa’s Grotto at The Twisted Fork

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a chance to meet Santa himself! Head to London’s only magic-themed cafe, The Twisted Fork, on the 1st of December to be transported to a winter wonderland. There’ll be elves, presents, tasty treats and of course, plenty of magic!

Festive Folk Tales

The Lord Of Misrule is heading to the Museum of London Docklands to tell some festive folk tales. This interactive story-telling session is a great one to go along to, there’s a chance for kids to get involved and lots of other fun to be had at the museum.

The Snail and The Whale

This year, the team behind the hugely popular stage performance of The Gruffalo are bringing The Snail and The Whale to the Apollo theatre! It’s a great adaptation of the much loved kid's book, check out our recent blog post with 5 reasons why we love it!
