Your Homeschooling ABC

Homeschooling can be a tough balance.

Homeschooling can be tough. You have to oversee your children’s learning AND get your own work done. Meanwhile, the house work is piling up. Perhaps this little rhyme will help you get through the daily challenge.

A is awake; another “school” day,
B is for breakfast, but not to delay

C is for classroom (wherever you’re able)
D is for desk (the dining room table)

E is for exercise, dance round the house
F is for flexing your time with your spouse

G is for gasping, “that’s not how I learned it!”
H is for having a break; boy you’ve earned it!

I is for inside, you miss the outdoors,
J is for juggling: school, job and chores

K is for kitchen, the teetering piles,
L is for laptop, “but don’t touch my files!”

M is for managing daily dramatics,
N is for numbers, equations, quadratics!

O is for online, for FaceTime and Zoom,
P is pyjamas, not in the classroom!

Q is for questions, you don’t have the answers,
R is rewatching those internet dancers

S is the school run, the one thing not missed,
T is for tasks, did you get through the list?

U’s for uploading their work to the school,
V is vexatious, “This ruddy e-tool!”

W’s for words, and your rooms full of phonics,
X is for exit; hello gin and tonics!

Y is for YOU time, a break from the drain,
And Z is for Zzzz till it all starts again

At Kidadl we pride ourselves on offering families original ideas to make the most of time spent together at home or out and about, wherever you are in the world. We strive to recommend the very best things that are suggested by our community and are things we would do ourselves - our aim is to be the trusted friend to parents.

We try our very best, but cannot guarantee perfection. We will always aim to give you accurate information at the date of publication - however, information does change, so it’s important you do your own research, double-check and make the decision that is right for your family.

Kidadl provides inspiration to entertain and educate your children. We recognise that not all activities and ideas are appropriate and suitable for all children and families or in all circumstances. Our recommended activities are based on age but these are a guide. We recommend that these ideas are used as inspiration, that ideas are undertaken with appropriate adult supervision, and that each adult uses their own discretion and knowledge of their children to consider the safety and suitability.

Kidadl cannot accept liability for the execution of these ideas, and parental supervision is advised at all times, as safety is paramount. Anyone using the information provided by Kidadl does so at their own risk and we can not accept liability if things go wrong.
