The Shadow of the Colossus was created by Team ICO, the people who also created Last Guardian. All the shadow of the colossus colossi names were mostly picked by fans and gained popularity.

The game features some human and non-human characters. The main character in the game is Wander, the young man who ventures into the forbidden land.

The main goal in the Japanese game is to seek out all the colossi in the game and kill them. The colossi are sixteen in number and one of the smallest of them is the Kuromori and also the 8th colossus. Like every other colossus, the Kuromori is made from stone and measures about 63 feet in length, 31 feet in height, and 19 feet in height.

There are a total of sixteen colossi for the players to defeat. The game is a different kind of adventure because it does away with the traditional dragons and dungeons style of fantasy. A game called ICO is believed to be the sequel to 'Shadow Of The Colossus.' The game continues in ICO after the rebirth of Wander. Here we have some super cool names from the game and some ideas for new ones.

You can check out 'Dark Souls' names and 'Fortnite' clan names.

Colossi Names

Each of the 16 colossi has been given nicknames made popular by fans. The colossi all look like gargantuan statues that have been brought to life. Although they all appear different from each other, most of them look like they were made from stone. Most of the colossi are created similarly based on different creatures and animals. The colossi have black blood flowing in them. Although they are different in appearance, almost all of them have similar eyes. After a colossus has been defeated, a huge pillar of light will appear in the sky above its corpse. Each of the colossi can only be killed by attacking certain parts of their body, which is why the game is called a puzzle game more than an adventure. The 16 colossus also have Latin names, which is fictional. Below is a list of the shadow of colossus names.

1. Argus (Latin name: Praesidium vigilo), the 15th colossus in the game and also one of the biggest. The developer's nickname is Minotaur C. The colossus has a height of 90 feet, 67 feet wide, and length of 40 feet. It is located in Parthenon. The arena is ancient and broken. At this point in the game, you have fought with almost all the colossi, so this fight may well be like a rehearsed battle even though the praesidium vigilo is still a tough battle.

2. Avion (Latin name: Avis praeda), the nickname given to the 5th colossus. The nickname from the developer is The Bird. A very swift colossus who, apparently, lives in a foggy lake that's in the H4 quadrant, situated at the topmost points of one of the many ruins protruding from the waters. The avis praeda is 36 feet tall, 126 feet wide, and 158 feet in length. It is a stone hawk soaring bird and is often the first colossus that many players see and mostly don't have an idea on how to kill it.

3. Barba (Latin name: Belua Maximus), the nickname given to the 6th colossus. The nickname from the developer is Minotaur B. The colossus is 95 feet tall, has a width of 72 feet, and a length of 51 feet. Belua Maximus has beards and is located in a distant temple that is located in the D6 quadrant of the Forbidden Lands. You can jump on his huge beards because of how huge he is. The fight is also an indoor fight. The fight against this colossus is very similar to that of Phaedra.

4. Basaran (Latin name: Nimbus recanto), the 9th colossus in the game. The nickname from the developer is Kame/The Tortoise. The tortoise-like colossus has a height of 82 feet, 126 feet wide, and a length of 190 feet. It is located in quadrant D3, which is in a cave next to a field of geysers. The fight with Nimbus Recanto is an aggravating one, which would require you to trick the colossus into stepping over a geyser in a foggy field so he opens up his vulnerable spots to your arrows. It is one of the trickiest puzzles in the game but it has a satisfying end.

5. Celosia (Latin name: Ignis excubitor), the nickname given to the 11th colossus. The nickname from the developer is Leo/The Lion. It has a height of 14 feet, a width of 18 feet, and a length of 24 feet. It is found in a small but deep canyon lying under a huge bridge that's situated in the F1 quadrant. Celosia is one of the two colossi that the game players will face. The fight with Ignis Excubitor can be a bit of a boring and tedious one. Players will have to trick him into falling from a temple only to then jump on his back to attack him. Finding the right spot to stab on his back is also a concern for players.

6. Cenobia (Latin name: Clades candor), the nickname given to the 14th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Cerebus. The colossal has a height of 13 feet, a width of 11 feet, and a length of 22 feet. It is similar in size to the Celosia. It can be found in the ruins of a large city in quadrant C2 of the Forbidden Lands. The colossus looks like a tiger. The fight is like a maze run instead of one-on-one. The goal is to make him weak from running. It is no news that the shadow of the colossus favors brains over brawn and this is a perfect example. Clades Candor is one of the shadow of the colossus bosses

7. Dirge (Latin name: Harena Tigris), the nickname given to the 10th colossal. The name of the developer is Narga. The colossal has a height of 59 feet, a width of 65 feet, and a length of 308 feet. The creature is serpentine-like and it moves in the sand in a huge cave that's located in the B4 quadrant of the Forbidden Lands. The battle is intense and the colossus spends most of the fight out of sight. It is a tricky sandworm slithering beneath your feet. The fight is perhaps one of the most interesting fights in the game. Harena Tigris is one of the three colossi that requires the players to use Agro before he can defeat it.

8. Gaius (Latin name: Terrestris Veritas), the nickname given to the 3rd colossus. The developer's nickname is The Knight. It has a height of 108 feet, a width of 63 feet, and a length of 39 feet. The colossus looks like a knight and its lair is a tilted arena in the middle of a giant lake in quadrant E2. Gaius is the biggest of the first three colossi you'll face, which is like a tutorial trilogy that will teach you how to proceed in the game and the patterns to understand. Terrestris Veritas is very large and he wields a large sword. Players get a satisfying feeling after they bring him down. This colossus signifies that the game is about to get tougher.

9. Hydrus (Latin name: Draco Marinus), the nickname given to the 7th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Eel B. The colossus is 78 feet in height, it has a width of 26 feet, and the length is 316 feet. It looks like a catfish and an electric eel. The colossus can be seen swimming in a huge and obscure lake that is D1 quadrant. It is quite tricky to figure out how to kill the Draco Marinus. It is one of the most intense fights in the whole of the game. The fight is made more complicated as the Hydrus has a zappy on his back.

10. Kuromori (Latin name: Parietinae umbra), the nickname given to the 8th colossus. The nickname of the developer is the Gecko (Yamori_B). The colossus is 19 feet tall, 31 feet wide, and 63 feet long. It looks like a gigantic lizard. It is a wall-climbing colossus and can be found in a narrow and tall area that is situated in the G6 quadrant. The kuromori is one of the first colossi you'll come across. It is trapped in an arena and it fires laser as part of its defense mechanism. The lizard-like colossus trapped in an arena has a cool design. The goal is to figure out how to knock the parietinae umbra off his high walls and jump on his stomach to make a deadly attack.

11. Malus (Latin name: Grandis supernus), the nickname given to the 16th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Elvis/Buddha. The colossus' height is 216 feet, the width is 98 feet, and the length is 98 feet. It is the final colossus and is found at the top of the great mesa on the southernmost tip of the Forbidden Lands (quadrant F8). The sixteenth colossus is not like the other fifteen colossi. The place where its located is inaccessible until the previous fifteen colossi are defeated. Grandis Supernus the shadow of colossus final boss. Although he's not the best, he's not very easy to take down. The finale is worthwhile as there is always a huge sigh of relief after winning.

12. Pelagia (Latin name: Permagnus pistrix), the nickname of the 12th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Poseidon. The colossus' height is 98 feet, the width is 72 feet, and the length is 104 feet. It can be found within a large lake in quadrant G2. Permagnus Pistrix is the fourth of the tallest colossus along with Phaedra with Malus, Quasratos, and Gaius being the tallest. The fight against Pelagia is fun and gimmicky. It is a fight that would have you navigating an island-like colossus. The battle with Pelagia may last too long and swimming to get behind Pelagia so you can board him is pretty frustrating.

13. Phaedra (Latin name: Equus Bellator apex), the nickname of the 4th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Kirin. The colossus has a height of 113 feet, a width of 45 feet, and a length of 104 feet. The colossus is shaped like a horse-like giant makes, who lives in the ruins located in the G5 quadrant. Equus Bellator apex, the fourth colossus is not as impressive as the rest of the colossi. The fight against Phaedra is a quick one, which makes the fight a boring one. Phaedra stands at a rough height of 89ft/27.1m, making it the joint fourth tallest of all the colossi along with Pelagia.

14. Phalanx (Latin name: Aeris velivolus), the nickname of the 13th colossus. The nickname of the developer is Snake C. Its height is 82 feet, has a width of 229 feet, and a length of 656 feet. The colossus is located in the middle of a desert. Aeris Velivolus is the largest colossus in the game and doesn't pay any attention to Wander except when he climbs onto his back. Phalanx is the best fight of Shadow Of The Colossus and also one of the best boss fights in video games.

15. Quadratus (Latin name: Taurus Magnus), the nickname given to the 2nd colossus. The nickname of the developer is The Mammoth/Boss A. It has a height of 108 feet, the width is 82 feet, and it has a length of 144 feet. Taurus Magnus looks like a mammoth and a bull. It can be found north of the Shrine of Worship, underneath the great bridge at the bottom of a giant canyon. Quadratus is more like a tutorial for navigating the larger scale colossi. It is the first colossus that can be fought with Argo. It is also a very boring fight.

16. Valus (Latin name: Minotaurus colossus), the nickname given to the 1st colossus. The nickname of the developer is Minotaur A. It has a height of 72 feet, A width of 54 feet, and a length of 45 feet. The colossus has its home on a flat area accessible only from climbing the vines and ruins dotting a tall cliff. Valus is the first colossus that a player will encounter. The fight with Minotaurus Colossus is not a complex encounter as the colossus is easy to defeat. Valus is the only character that has wildlife around it as there are several hawks continuously circling its head.

Although Wander's past is not specified in the game, it appears to be that he's from the same tribe or social group as Lord Emon, and he was somehow involved with a girl named Mono. He is determined to save Mono by all means and nothing will stop him, including the 16 colossi.

Shadow creatures play a vital role in understanding the game.
