Fossils of a carnivorous dinosaur were discovered and studied in China that dated back to the Late Jurassic.

Leshansaurus dinosaur fossils were unearthed from the Shangshaximiao Formation strata of the Late Jurassic period. These deadly-looking dinosaurs were mid-sized theropods, bigger than other theropods of that era.

The first specimen was found of an adult in 2007 where a partially complete skeleton of the species was discovered from the rock formation.
