Calum Hood’s full name is Calum Thomas Hood. He is a songwriter, singer as well as a musician from Australia.  Mostly, people know Calum as the bassist of the famous rock band of Australia: 5 Seconds of Summer. 5 Seconds of Summer is a successful and popular band whose albums are among the best selling in pop culture. The live streams of their songs have more than seven billion views. They have sold more than 10 million copies of their albums since 2014 and more than two million tickets to their concerts worldwide. 5 Seconds of Summer is regarded among the most powerful and successful music bands in Australia.

5SOS started with cover versions of songs, among cover videos, one being of Chris brown. Guy Sebastian and 5SOS created a hit that was trending worldwide. Calum was in a controversy with Caitlin Davis regarding inappropriate behavior even when Calum claims it did not happen. Calum dropped the chance, and Calum split in Year 11 in 2012 due to the band's move to London. Calum preferred to focus on his music career than working with the band. Calum Thomas Hood and Mali Koa Hood have never worked together. Calum was dating Maddie Harris for a short period back in 2014.

Calum Hood Parents

Calum Hood was born in Sydney. His father’s name is David Hood and his mother’s name is Joy Hood. While his father is Scottish, Calum’s mother is from New Zealand. Hence, Calum Hood is half Scottish and half Kiwi, but he was brought up in Australia.

Calum Hood is the younger brother of the vocalist and singer Mali Koa Hood. Mali Koa Hood is also a pop singer and she contested in the first season of 'The Voice' Australia that was held in 2012. She successfully reached the battle round in the show but didn't make it to the knockout round.

In spite of his interests in different extracurricular fields, Calum was also a bright student. He went to the Norwest Christian College wherein he participated in different sports quite often.  Calum has a thing for football and still loves playing the sport in his free time. But later on, when Calum's music was liked by people and his career shot up. In 2012, he said no to a National level football tournament and decided to drop out of school after finishing his first year, so that he could focus and give his all to the band.

Calum Hood Age

Calum Hood was born on January 25, 1996,  hence, in January 2021, he turned 25 years of age. In the third grade at the Norwest Primary School, Calum met Michael Clifford and became friends with him. 

That friendship was the beginning of the band that made history. Currently, Michael Clifford is one of the members of 5 Seconds of Summer. Later on, when Hood went to high school, he met another band member Luke Hemmings at the Norwest Christian College. He and Luke performed together in the school talent hunt.

As a child and also as a teenager, Calum was a football enthusiast. His coach at Norwest Christian College said that he had a promising career in football. Calum also went on a training camp in Brazil and was quite certain about pursuing football as a permanent career for himself. But, post the foundation and formation of 5 Seconds of Summer, he couldn't give much time to his beloved sport. Later in 2012, the band decided to shift to London in order to increase their reach.

At that time,  Hood realized that it was time for him to choose between football and music. Even his parents were strictly against him and his dad David Hood said that he would make the worst decision of his life if he chose music. But destiny played its game and, letting go of football as a career, Calum decided to follow the path of music and the rest is history.

Calum's favorite food is a Hawaiian pizza with ham and pineapple.

According to the boys of the 5SOS band,  Calum Hood is the most handsome among them, he has brown hair and has beautiful dark brown eyes.

Calum Hood is 72.8 in (184.9 cm) tall with black hair. As mentioned earlier,  his eyes are dark brown in color.

The fourth member of the group, Ashton Irwin was a mutual friend of the other three and was hence added to the band. Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, and Ashton Irwin make up the current 5 Seconds of Summer gang.

Calum Hood celebrates his birthday on January 25. Among all the boys of the group, Calum writes the maximum number of songs. His favorite song is ‘Kiss Me Kiss Me'.

Calum’s favorite movie is the new Lego movie. Also,  he loves the movie Monsters Inc. He says that it is his childhood favorite.

Hood has a total of 17 tattoos on his body. Out of which, the one on the side of his chest is the most famous. It is the tattoo of the number 2012 in Roman, depicting the year of formation of the band.

Calum Hood Nicknames

Calum Hood’s friends and the band members often call him Cal or Caly. His superhero nickname is Cal Pal. 

According to an estimation in 2020, Calum Hood’s net worth is approximately $25 million. Apart from his extraordinary singing and writing skills, Calum is also quite famous as a prankster. He has a huge crush on Katy Perry and Jessica Alba. In an interview,  Calum Hood said that he wished he was the writer of the song ‘I miss you' by Blink-182.
