Andy Schleck won the 2004 Flèche du Sud cycling event while still an amateur. Since the Danish national squad was competing, news reached Danish Team CSC boss, Bjarne Riis.

He won the 2004 Under 23 National Road Race and Time Trial Championship.

Andy Schleck joined Team CSC in 2005 and made his ProTour debut in the 2005 Volta a Catalunya at the age of 19.

During his career as a professional rider (from 2005 to 2014), he won the Tour de France in 2010 and was three times the best young rider in the Tour de France.

Andy Schleck finished fourth in the Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 2008. In the Tour De France, he ended 12th overall, winning the Young Rider category ahead of Roman Kreuziger and assisting CSC in winning the team category and Carlos Sastre in winning the Maillot Jaune.

In 2009, he had his most impressive victory to that time in his career, when a strong April culminated in an amazing triumph in Liège–Bastogne–Liège, making him the first Luxembourger to win the race since Marcel Ernzer in 1954.

He stood second in the Tour De France, after Alberto Contador and in front of Bradley Wiggins, as well as third on Stage 17.
