Bill Prady came from relatively humble roots in Detroit, Michigan, to become one of the biggest executive producers for US television today.

He has a string of successful TV series behind him, including, most famously, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (or TBBT). He was just an executive producer of the series.

He was also the co-creator and occasional writer for ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Writing is how he started his career in show business. He got his first real break from Muppet creator Jim Henson, who encouraged him to write episodes for some of the shows on the go. It started a great relationship that lasted until Jim Henson died. Bill Prady was so affected by Henson’s death that he co-wrote a posthumous tribute to his life and times in ‘The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson’. This garnered him a nomination for an Emmy award.

Bill Prady got his first entertainment job as a television writer for a series called ‘You Can’t Do That on Television,’ but it wasn’t long before he started working for Jim Henson Productions. Bill Prady went to Jim Henson Productions as a production assistant for an episode that looked at new technology. He never left and wound up in the merchandising department.

Jim Henson encouraged Prady to embrace the cinematic arts and write for some of the projects that were running, including ‘The Jim Henson Hour’. He also wrote scripts for the Disney theme park attraction Muppet * Vision 3D. He’s never lost the relationship with the Muppets and the Muppet Show.
