Best Known For…

Bob Mould began his career in the punk rock band Husker Du in 1979. The band made a series of releases on the independent label SST Records. The band joined with a big record company, Warner Bros. Records, in 1986. However, their economic success was limited.
Husker Du was subsequently acknowledged as one of the key influences on bands such as Nirvana and the Pixies in '90s alternative music. They released live albums and six studio albums. Husker Du split up amicably in the late '80s. They split up due to disagreements over songwriting credits and musical direction, and the death of the band's manager, David Savoy.
After Husker Du disbanded in 1988, Mould retreated to a lonely farmhouse in Pine City, Minnesota. There, he penned the songs that would eventually become his debut solo album, 'Workbook' released in 1989 on the newly founded Virgin Records America label. They ditched Mould's typical wall-of-noise guitar in favor of a softer tone. Mould's rhythm combo consisted of drummer Anton Fier and bass guitarist Tony Maimone.
'Black Sheets of Rain' was released in 1990. It had a significantly stronger guitar sound, reminiscent of Husker Du's harsher, angrier periods. The song 'It's Too Late' reached Number 10 position on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
The band 'Sugar' was created by Bob Mould, bassist David Barbe, and drummer Malcolm Travis. 'Sugar' released two albums before disbanding. 'Copper Blue,' released in 1992, was selected as NME's 1992 Record of the Year. It was Mould's most commercially successful albums.
Mould returned to solo music in 1996. Instead of utilizing a professional drummer, Mould played all of the instruments himself and coded the drums. The album charted at Number 101 on the Billboard 200.
Mould took a break from music to pursue another love of his, professional wrestling. He joined WCW as a screenwriter for a short time in 1999.
Mould left the firm and returned to music due to creative conflicts with some of the other authors. Some of the wrestlers he worked with are thanked in the liner notes on his 2002 album ‘Modulate.’
In the late '90s, Mould's preferences shifted to dance music and electronica. Those inspirations were evident on his 2002 album 'Modulate.' They contained a heavy electronica influence and received mixed reviews from critics and a dismal reception from fans.
In addition to his solo work, Mould collaborated as a live DJ with Richard Morel under the collective label Blowoff. In September 2006, a Blowoff CD was published. The album included songs that the two had recorded together.
Bob Mould is best known for his songs: 'See a Little Light,' 'Paralyzed,' 'The Descent,' 'Fort Knox,' 'King Solomon,' and 'It's Too Late.'
