Brian Shaw began his strongman career in 2005 when he competed in the Denver Strongest Man competition. Shaw has never attended a formal school. He advanced to the professional ranks in 2006 and had remarkable success. In 2009, he became a member of Fortissimus. Shaw was also the third person to lift six Atlas stones weighing 300–425 lb (136–193 kg).
Brian qualified for the World's Strongest Man finals in 2010, and he also won the first Jon Pall Sigmarsson Classic that year. In addition, Brian also participated in the 2018 World's Ultimate Strongman tournament in Dubai. Some of the activities, such as the deadlift, were difficult for him in the competition. He also did an excellent job listing all of the items in the overhead medley. Shaw lifted all five stones in the final event, but it wasn't enough to beat Bjornsson in the final points, and because of this, Brian was placed second in the tournament

Brian has also won North AAmerica'sStrongest Man Competition in 2007 and 2014. He also won America's Strongest Man Competition in 2013 and 2016. In 2014, he won the SCL North America Championship, and in 2009, the All American Strongman Challenge was also won by him.
