Carrie-Anne Moss was born in August 1967 to Melvyn Moss and Barbara Moss in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Carrie-Anne Moss lived with her older brother Brooke Moss, and her parents, and spent a big part of her childhood days in Vancouver.

Carrie-Anne Moss first went to the Vancouver Children's Musical Theatre. After her time at the Vancouver Children's Musical Theatre, she was enrolled in the Magee Secondary School in Vancouver.
