Channing Crowder has played in the linebacker position since his high school days. In 2005, he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, which led to the beginning of his NFL career. 

Before playing in NFL, Channing Crowder played football at the University of Florida and was also the captain of the football team, Florida Gators, which Ron Zook then coached. Channing Crowder achieved All America honors from PrepStar, an online magazine, and This professional NFL player announced his retirement in 2011, just two weeks after being released by the Miami Dolphins.

However, Channing Crowder announced his plan to restart his career on the Super Bowl's Radio Row the following year. Besides playing football, he has also co-hosted various shows. He hosted a midday show on WQAM with Adam Kuperstein, the NBC 6 news anchor, but the show was canceled. He is the current co-host of 'Hochman And Crowder' on 560 WQAM. Channing Crowder has two sisters, Dacia Crowder and Alanna Crowder. 

Channing Crowder started playing football at the young age of nine. He attended North Springs High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and he played as a linebacker for his high school team. He received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He played for the Florida Gators football team in 2003 and 2004. Initially, he was a member of Florida's 2002 class but delayed his enrollment to complete his knee recovery until January 2003.

Channing Crowder collected All-America honors from PrepStar and while playing as a linebacker for North Springs High School in Sandy Springs. He was ranked among the southeast's top 10 linebackers by PrepStar and among the nation's top 15 outside linebackers by The Atlanta-Journal Constitution named him one of the top four linebackers from Georgia. In 2001, Channing Crowder became the North Spring Spartans MVP. 

While in college, Channing Crowder played for the team Florida Gators, coached by Ron Zook. He practiced with the Gators team before 2003. In 2003, he played 11 games with nine starts which became the most number of starts by a freshman linebacker in college history. During that season, he led the nation with the most number of tackles by a freshman. After Travis Harris, who started four games in 2000, Channing Crowder became the first true freshman linebacker to start for Florida in 2003. In 2004, he became the captain of the Florida Gators and earned the outstanding linebacker award.

In the 2005 NFL Draft, Channing Crowder was drafted by the Miami Dolphins. He signed a four-year contract with the team. In the 16 games he played in his rookie season, Channing Crowder started 13 games. With 90 tackles, he ranked second on the team, which is the highest total by a Dolphins rookie since Zach Thomas with 164 tackles in 1996. It was also the fifth-highest among the NFL rookies of 2005. He continued to make significant advancements as a player and once again became a reliable starter in 2006. 

In 2006, Channing Crowder finished second on the Dolphins with 104 tackles. It was the first 100-tackle season of his career, and he made his first career interception against the England Patriots on December 6, 2009. He made a total of 469 tackles in his NFL career. On February 25, 2009, he was re-signed to a three-year contract by the Miami Dolphins. On July 29, 2011, the Dolphins released him after six years and signed LB Kevin Burnett. On August 9, 2011, Channing Crowder announced his retirement from the NFL, as he had been playing since he was nine years old and had played long enough.
