Apart from finding widespread fame and superstardom by being the lead actor in the 'Superman' films, he had a thriving acting career in the realms of theater and television. Christopher D'Olier Reeve was born on September 25, 1952, in New York City. His father, Franklin D'Olier Reeve, was a writer, scholar, and teacher by profession. His mother's name was Barbara Pitney Lamb, and she was into journalism. When young Christopher was four years of age, he moved with his younger brother and mother to Princeton in New Jersey. The young Christopher was enrolled in the Princeton Country Day School at Princeton. He was deemed an excellent pupil by his teachers, and throughout his school life, he made accomplishments not only in academics but also in a variety of sporting activities.
The idea of becoming an actor struck Christopher Reeve when he was still at school. He was about nine when he began acting in school productions. Once he finished his schooling, Reeve took the decision to go for his graduation. Reeve joined Cornell University in 1970 and continued sharpening his acting skill by regularly participating in plays by being a part of the university theater department. During his junior year at Cornell University, Reeve successfully transferred himself to the Juilliard School in New York City. It was at Juilliard School that Christopher Reeve spent a whole year studying the craft of acting. One of his classmates happened to be actor Robin Williams. He then graduated from Cornell University in the year 1974.

However, his career took off when he got the offer to play the principal character in the Richard Donner-directed film 'Superman'. This 1978 iconic movie catapulted Christopher Reeve into popular mainstream superstardom, and he became a massive star both in the United States and other parts of the world. Christopher Reeve is remembered for playing the infamous comic book character of Superman/Clark Kent on the celluloid screen in four different instances, starting in 1978.
