Chuck Schumer was born to Abraham and Selma Schumer in Midwood, Brooklyn. He spent his early life in Brooklyn, and he and his family are Jewish. He has two siblings, both younger, Robert and Fran Schumer. The comedian, Amy Schumer, is his second cousin once removed.
Schumer was an excellent student. He graduated as a valedictorian from James Madison High School in 1967 with a perfect SAT score of 1600 and went on to Harvard College to do a degree. Although he started his degree in chemistry, he soon switched to political science. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1971 and pursued law at Harvard Law School.
Even though Schumer passed the New York State Bar in 1975, he did not continue in the legal sector. Instead, he ran for New York State Assembly and won. At the early age of 24, he became the youngest Assembly member since Theodore Roosevelt.

Weinshall was the former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation and the former vice-chancellor of the City University of New York.
At present, Weinshall is the Chief Operating Officer of the New York Public Library. She oversees the operations of the New York Public Library system in 92 different locations, with a large budget of over $300 million.
The two married on top of the north tower at the World Trade Centre. The couple has two children, Jessica and Allison Schumer, both graduates of Harvard University, following in their father's footsteps.

He competed against Geraldine Ferraro and Mark Green in the Democratic Primary and won with a 51% majority. In the next general election, he won against the Republican candidate Al D'Amato with 54% of the votes.

Between 2007 and 2017, Schumer was the vice-chair of the Democratic Caucus in the Senate. He has also chaired the Senate Democratic Policy Committee between 2011 and 2017.
Chuck Schumer has climbed the ladder of US politics and never looked back. In 2006, Schumer was re-elected to the Senate in the general election. He was then unanimously elected as the vice-chair of the Democratic Conference by then majority leader Harry Reid.
Later, in January 2021, he became the majority leader when the party gained the majority in the Senate. He replaced Mitch McConnell as the majority leader in the United States Senate.
