In the third round of the MLB draft of 2008, Washington Nationals picked up Danny Espinosa. Danny, however, spent the rest of the summer of 2008 in the minor league with the Vermont Lake Monsters in the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League. He batted .328 there. The next year, Danny got promoted to the Potomac Nationals in the Class A-Advanced Carolina League where he hit 18 home runs with 72 runs batted in and 29 steals. He was a High-A, as well as, Carolina League All-Star. In 2010, Danny started with the Harrisburg Senators in the Class AA Eastern League but was soon promoted to the Syracuse Chiefs in the Class AAA International League. While he was playing for Syracuse, he became just the second player in organized baseball to get to 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 2010. Espinosa had always played shortstop in his college and his minor league baseball career. However, he was changed to second base as Washington Nationals already had Ian Desmond playing at shortstop.
Danny Espinosa was called up to the Major League Baseball for the first time when the rosters of MLB expanded on September 1, 2010. He was part of the team lineup that night and it was his first MLB game. His first game at the Nationals Park was against the New York Mets. On December 10, 2016, the Nationals traded Danny Espinosa to the Los Angeles Angels. His first hit in the team came in the second game with a big three-run home run in the ninth inning that put the team ahead. He was later released on July 22.
He then signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners in the major league on July 23, 2017. He was released on August 20. On August 25, he signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. On September 25, he was released by the Tampa Bay Rays to make room for the roster.
On January 29, 2018, Danny signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees. On March 12, he was released. On March 17, Toronto Blue Jays signed him and then released him on April 29. On May 6, he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and he was released on May 30. On June 22, he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies and was later released on August 8.
Mexican League team Acereros de Monclova signed him on August 14, 2018. On February 8, 2019, he signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets and he became a free agent after that season.
On February 29, 2020, he again signed with the Mexican League side for a second stint.
He is best known as a talented baseball player who has rocked both the minor league and the major league.
