David Yost graduated from the Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, California. Being a gymnast from his early life, Yost participated in various gymnastics competitions around the country during his teenage years, where he won many awards.
In 1991, David Yost earned his BA in Communication and Dramatic Arts with top marks from the Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Passing out of university, David Yost decided he had to move out of his hometown to make it big and subsequently moved to California. As luck would have it, David Yost was selected for the superhero television series 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' to play the fictional character Billy Cranston, the Blue Power Ranger. The show debuted in August 1993 on Fox Kids, and started his career as a television actor. An interesting fact about his character Billy Cranston is that he never transferred his power coins to other characters or changed his theme color.
David Yost has the record of being the only cast member of the show who acted in all the episodes of the original show. Over the first four seasons, he appeared in over 200 episodes. After three seasons, the original show stopped airing and came out in a new avatar, 'Power Rangers Zeo' in the fourth season. However, the character of Billy was retained as a technical advisor to other characters rather than being the leading role of a 'Power Ranger.' As the fourth season ended, David Yost announced that it would be his last season in the show.
David Yost's most famous appearance as a Power Ranger, which garnered him more fame, would be in 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie' in 1995. The film took the box office by storm and collected $60 million globally.
A few years later, it was rumored that David Yost left the 'Power Rangers' due to a payment issue with the producers. There was some confusion regarding the accusations as David Yost vehemently denied the charges and revealed that the real reason for leaving the show was his issues with the production crew. They had harassed and misbehaved with him, resulting in his walking out of the show. After Hasbro acquired the rights for the 'Power Rangers' franchise in 2018, David Yost publicly came forward to show his interest in producing a reunion film of 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' for Netflix.
David Yost has acted in a few other movies as well. In the year 2000, David Yost played the part of a magazine photographer in the television film 'After Different Strokes: When The Laughter Stopped.' He was seen as Josh White in the movie 'Scene Of The Crime.' Later in 2000, as an associate producer, he worked on the television film ‘The Mary Kay Letourneau Story.’
In 2010 David Yost worked as a segment producer for 'The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills.' Under the Sci-Fi channel, Yost also worked as the director of the production for 'Sci-Fi Lab.' However, his first projects as a producer were the series 'Temptation Island' and 'Alien Hunter' in 2001. He later went on to take up the position as the licensing manager at Geneon. On behalf of Geneon, David Yost used to market television shows and films to networks such as Showtime, Starz, Cartoon Network, and Encore.
David Yost is also an entrepreneur. He is a multi-faceted personality who has dabbled in the entertainment business and explored the entrepreneurship trend. In 2016, along with Texas entrepreneurs Mason and Cris Andrade, he took on the role of the co-owner of Affirmative Clothing. The brand sells 'Power Rangers' inspired clothing with designs themed on the show.
In 2017, David Yost acted alongside his former 'Power Rangers' cast members in the short film 'The Order.' Yost has on and off been associated with his fellow actors from the show over the years. The actor also participated in the Anime Festival Orlando in Florida in 2010 and has appeared with his former co-stars in Pasadena at Power Morphicon in 2012 and 2014.

Charity Work

Working to raise funds for AIDS-affected persons has been an innate passion for David Yost over the years. In this regard, he participated in a play called 'Fallen Guardian Angels' for AIDS Project Los Angeles in 2002. The play was a grand success, with the audience and critics praising it highly. The play showed six actors at various points in their lives struggling with HIV, which had engulfed their lives. The funds raised through the play were donated to The Children's Hospitals AIDS Center.
