DeMarcus Ware, an Alabama native, grew up in Auburn alongside his sister, Jakeithia Ware. He was born DeMarcus Omar Ware to Brenda Ann Ware and Otis Pitts in 1982.

DeMarcus Ware attended Ogletree Elementary School and later Auburn High School, where he played as the wide receiver and linebacker during his senior year; he emerged victorious in every game and got top leadership honors. He had seven sacks and 55 total tackles in his senior season. Ware was a top performer in the long jump for the state in track and field.

In 2001, he accepted a scholarship from Troy University. Ware's college journey concluded with impressive statistics, including 27.5 sacks, 74 quarterback hurries, 201 tackles, 10 forced turnovers, four fumble recoveries, and one interception. He graduated in 2004.

Ware's impressive season also included 73 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception, both of which he returned for touchdowns. Recognized for his stellar performance, Ware was named a starter on the NFC Pro Bowl team.

A highlight of Ware's season was his unforgettable 69-yard fumble return for his first NFL touchdown during a game against the Eagles in Week 6. Additionally, he made his first career interception against the Atlanta Falcons, returning it for a 41-yard touchdown. Overall, Ware was tied for ninth in the league in total sacks.

In the 2007 season, Ware continued his exceptional play, becoming the second Cowboy to record at least 14 sacks in a season since Jim Jeffcoat in 1986. He led with 27 quarterback pressures, four forced fumbles, and eight tackles for losses. Ware was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl and selected for the All-Pro team alongside teammates Terrell Owens and Jason Witten.

2008 was another milestone year for Ware. He tied an NFL record for making a sack in ten consecutive games and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the New York Giants. Ware ended the season with a total of 20 sacks, leading the league and setting a club record. In October 2009, Ware signed a six-year contract worth $78 million, ranking him among the top five highest-paid defenders in the NFL. He displayed remarkable resilience later that year, recovering quickly from a neck injury to play against the undefeated New Orleans Saints. In that game, he recorded two sack fumbles, including one that dashed the Saints' hopes for a comeback and an undefeated season.

DeMarcus Ware spent nine seasons with the Cowboys, leaving in 2013 as their top sack leader with 117. He then played three seasons with the Denver Broncos and won Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. He retired from the NFL after the 2016 season with the Denver Broncos. Farine Elementary School received a $5,000 grant from Ware to help pay for one of their students' medical fees. DeMarcus Ware also donated $10,000 to provide grave markers for the 23 victims of the Beauregard storm.
