He appeared in five games as a freshman in 2001, accumulating three interceptions, 263 passing yards, and one touchdown. Derek Anderson was forced into the starting role like a quarterback and given the reins of a fast-growing program at the beginning of his sophomore year (2002).
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Derek Anderson in 2005; however, he was dismissed before the season started. He later joined Cleveland; however, he didn't play till 2006. Anderson defeated the Baltimore Ravens, the team who drafted him, on September 30. He completed 10 of 18 throw attempts with 204 yards and two TDS with only one interception.
The Browns would eventually defeat the Ravens once more, marking it the first time the Browns have swept the Ravens since 2001.
