Devin joined the Baltimore Ravens on September 4, 2016. It was a one-year deal. He was a return specialist. He played 12 games with the Ravens. They released him on December 13.

Devin joined the Seattle Seahawks in January 2017. His first play with them was against the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2016-2017 playoffs. When he played against the Atlanta Falcons, he returned five kickoffs for 194 yards. However, the Seahawks were defeated by them 36-20. After the game, Devin announces his will to retire.

The NFL player retired on December 12, 2017. He and Matt Forte, his former teammate, were honored by the Chicago Bears during a press conference on April 23, 2018, at Halas Hall. Hester was also nominated to be inducted into the 2022 NFL Hall of Fame class in his first year of eligibility.

His mother remarried Derrick Brown. He was not even a teenager when his mother was injured in a car accident. His father, Lenorris Hester, passed away after two years because of cancer. He has two siblings, named Lenorris Jr. and Keaundra Brown. His stepfather and brother, Lenorris Jr., helped him cope with the situation. They introduced Devin to football. It was a great decision as he slowly gained his life back. He started to excel in both sports and academics.

Devin attended Palm Beach Gardens High and then moved to Suncoast High School. After that, he went to the University of Miami.

He was nicknamed Sugar Foot after returning a kick for an 80-yard touchdown.

When he joined the University of Miami, he played for the Miami Hurricanes football team for three years (2003-2005). He also won the 2004 Big EAST Indoor long jump on Miami’s track and field team.
