Craterosaurus, which means krater reptile or bowl reptile, was a stegosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period. The only known type species, Craterosaurus Potonensis, was described by Harry Seeley in 1874, who had mistaken the fossil for the base of the skull. The specific name refers to Potton's bone bed.
