Following a rewarding college baseball career, Eric Byrnes ventured into professional baseball when he was selected in Major League Baseball draft in 1998 by Oakland Athletics. He made his debut in the Major League in 2000 in a match against Cleveland Indians. He played against teams like Boston Red Sox during his time with Oakland Athletics.
In 2005, Eric Byrnes was moved from the Oakland Athletics to the Colorado Rockies, where he played 15 baseball games. In the same year, he was traded to Baltimore Orioles and played 52 games that season. Eric Byrnes became a free agent by the end of the 2005 season. He decided to move to Arizona Diamondbacks and signed a one-year contract with the team. In 2007, his contract was extended to three years. Perhaps, Byrnes's time with Arizona Diamondbacks was the most rewarding in his career as he won numerous awards like the Fielding Bible Award during this period.
In 2010, Eric Byrnes joined Seattle Mariners by signing a contract for a year. However, he was released early, following which Byrnes declared that he was retiring from Major League Baseball. During his baseball career, Byrnes also appeared on TV as an analyst for various shows on ESPN and Fox Sports, like 'Baseball Tonight' and 'The Best Damn Sports Show Period.'
