He continued to play the role in the musical for a period of one and a half years before eventually moving on to perform at Madison Square garden. He took up the role of Jonathan in the production of 'A Christmas Carol'. The American actor was also a part of the cast of 'King And I' at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
Gerard Canonico was part of the 2001 tour of 'Casper The Musical', where he worked with the actress Chita Rivera in various states across the USA, including Dallas, Kansas City, and Atlanta. While continuing to be a part of the cast of 'Les Misérables', Canonico participated in readings for the musical 'The Prince And The Pauper', which was performed at The Lamb's Theater. The singer made his first appearance in the show during its opening day, where he played the role of Tom Canty, the pauper. The actor also performed at the same venue again in 2004 when he played the role of Brett in the production of 'Children's Letters To God'.
