Jahri Evans was drafted by the NFL New Orleans Saints in 2006 in round four. The Saints had traded their early fourth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Hollis Thomas, who was a defensive tackle. Immediately after getting drafted, he was moved from tackle position to guard position.
Jahri Evans was signed in with the New Orleans Saints for a three-year contract worth $1.4 million. He was a brilliant performer in the Saints training camp. His rookie year at the New Orleans Saints saw him playing 16 games and all playoff games at right guard. In the same year, he made it into the All-Rookie team of Pro-Football Weekly.
By his second year at the New Orleans Saints, Jahri Evans had effectively contributed to rank three in the NFL as a right guard. In 2010, he made it into the Pro Bowl NFC roster. He signed a seven-year contract with the New Orleans Saints in the same year worth $56.7 million. After signing the contract, he became the highest-paid man playing in the offensive line in NFL.
