In April 2019, Off the Record declared Jang and her family's decision to home-school, dropping out of Yonggang Middle School and taking the eligibility exam shortly after beginning the Iz*One group. She received perfect marks in Korean, English, and mathematics. Jang is studying at the School of Performing Arts in 2020 with a subject in practical music.

Jang decided to return to Starship as an apprentice after Iz*One disbanded in April with teammate and tag mate Yujin. In December, she and Leeteuk were also set to lead the Asia Artist Awards. Jang was announced as one of six participants of Ive, Starship's latest girl group, on November 4, 2021.

Jang was named global ambassador for Amorepacific Company's natural beauty brand Innisfree on July 27, 2021. she was formally confirmed as Kirsh's new muse in October 2021. Jang was formally confirmed as Miu Miu's spokesperson on the December 2021 issue of 'Harper's Bazaar Korea' magazine covers, where Jang was the cover girl and an advertising model.
