On November 16, 2006, it was reported that Calacanis resigned as the general manager of Netscape and CEO of Weblog, Inc. by TechCrunch, which Calacanis confirmed on the Gillmor Gang podcast and his blog.
In December of 2006, Jason Calacanis became the Entrepreneur in action for Sequoia capital. Sequoia Capital is a venture capital firm. He was in this position until 2007. He invested $25,000 in Uber through this program. Mahalo.com, a web directory, was launched by him and was able to raise $20 million in venture capital from investors like Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, CBS, News Corp, and Sequoia capital.
