Jeff Glor joined the WSTM, a television station based in Syracuse, New York, as a part-time producer while still attending college. From 1997-2000, he worked as the morning news anchor. The Syracuse New Times named Glor the 'Best Male News Anchor' and one of the '40 Most Promising Professionals Under The Age Of 40'.

Glor contributed to 'The Legal Handbook For New York State Journalists' as a researcher and writer. Before he became a part of CBS News, Jeff Glor held roles at WHDH-TV Boston from 2003-2007, where he served as the weekend evening news anchor and worked as a weekday reporter. At WHDH-TV, he covered numerous national events, including the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Additionally, he reported on the passing of Pope John Paul II in 2005 in Rome and provided coverage of the hearings on steroid use in Major League Baseball from Washington, D.C.

He also co-anchored the CBS 'Sunday Morning', for which he earned an Emmy in 2011.

From January 2011-2012, he was the news anchor for 'The Early Show'. In 2012, Jeff became the Saturday anchor of CBS' 'This Morning', the sequel to 'The Early Show'. From 2013-2015, Glor conducted a series of reports for the 'CBS Evening News' focusing on the recall crisis involving General Motors and Takata.

On December 4, 2017, Jeff Glor was named the CBS 'Evening News' new permanent weekday host until May 2019. His final CBS 'Evening News' show occurred on May 10, 2019, and Norah O'Donnell, a fellow news anchor and journalist, took over the role. Glor began co-hosting CBS 'This Morning: Saturday' (later renamed CBS 'Saturday Morning') with Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson on June 22, 2019.

In 2018, Glor participated in a charity auction where the winner and a guest could visit the CBS Broadcast Center in NYC, meet him, and watch him anchor the 'CBS Evening News'.
