Jerrod Niemann kicked off his professional career as a singer following his time at the South Plains College. Jerrod played acoustic guitar and sang in various Texas-based bars and clubs. Jerrod self-released his debut album in 1999 titled 'Long Hard Road'.
In September 2000, Jerrod shifted to Nashville, Tennessee, and signed a deal with Mercury Records the following year in August but surprisingly didn't release any label.
