Jim Croce was born in the south Philadelphia region of Pennsylvania and grew up in the suburbs. Initially, Jim did not take music as a career seriously, however, he later became one of the most renowned musicians of all time.
He developed an interest in music after he started studying at Villanova University. However, the road to becoming a successful musician was not easy for Jim Croce as he had to take up several odd jobs to pay his bills. He collaborated with Maury Muehleisen, after with his career took a turn. Maury also played the guitar with him.
It was not until 1972 that Jim had a breakthrough. However, he did not live long as he and his five others members were subjected to a fatal accident in September 1973 after his plane took off from Natchitoches Airport.

He studied for one year at the Malvern Preparatory School and later enrolled at Villanova University. He majored in German and Psychology and obtained a BSc degree in Social Studies in 1965. He lived most of his life in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
