Keith Powell is an award-winning American television actor, writer, and director who rose to Hollywood fame after he was cast in the popular television series, '30 Rock' in 2006.

Keith Powell married visual artist Jill Knox-Powell in 2013 and they have two children together, Dolyn Reed Powell and Satcher Rex Powell. The two actors often work together in Keith Powell's production company, Culture Vulture.

Keith Powell discovered his love for acting while he was still a learner in middle school in Wilmington, Pennsylvania. By the time he reached high school, Keith was already writing and directing his own plays. His parents sent him to study at St. Mark's High School, a private school that opened the doors for him to explore his talent. The budding actor went on to enroll at New York University, pursuing a qualification in Bachelor of Fine Arts. Before becoming a Hollywood celebrity, Keith began his career on stage. At 22, Keith was the youngest artistic director of a professional theater in the USA after he founded the Contemporary Stage Company in his hometown. He was a resident director for a community theater group in Wilmington, Pennsylvania. He has worked with the likes of Sean Patrick Thomas, Keith David, and Duncan Sheik. Keith also worked on the New York productions of 'Enter Pissarro' and 'The Mouse That Roared'. Some of his theater credits included 'As Bees In Honey Drown',which he performed at the Hangar Theater in Ithaca in New York.

Even though the family was strained financially, his grandmother made sure that Keith went through private school education so he may have a better life and opportunities. Keith Powell's love for acting and directing began when he was a learner in middle school. His teacher at the time assigned a school assignment to write a play. He did not give himself a role in the play but wanted to direct it. By the time he reached high school, he knew that he wanted to be an actor and writer. Before he became a famous television star, Keith Powell was known for his work on stage. After graduating from New York University, Keith had to move back to his home in Pennsylvania to look after his grandmother. While he was in the city, he discovered that there was a vacant, newly built theater so he approached the building managers to turn it into a community theater. Keith raised capital to open the Contemporary Stage Company, a community theater group in Wilmington, Delaware.  He used the space as a platform to direct theater productions starring the likes of Keith David and Jasmine Guy.

As someone who is passionate about social change, Keith took on the role of resident director for touring company, Equalogy where he directed two plays by playwright August Schulenberg. Keith self-funded and directed the New York Productions of the classic comedy 'The Mouse That Roared' and conducted a workshop on 'Kidding Jane' alongside the legendary performers, Ellen McLaughlin and William Charles Mitchell. To date, the writer has self-funded 13 projects which include television mini-series, TV specials, TV series, and a podcast.
