Throughout Stabler's NFL career, the quarterback was best known for his time as one of the Oakland Raider's all-time best quarterbacks. In his earlier years, he was also well known for the play dubbed 'Run in the Mud', where he darted through the mod for a 47-yard, game-winning touchdown for the Tide.
Since his school days, Stabler had been considered a bit of athletic talent. His football career started in high school where he led his team to a win-loss record of 29-1. He was not limited to just football alone though, and Stabler would go on to be considered a bit of an all-rounder player, playing and performing incredibly well in several sports, including baseball where he signed a minor league contract, and basketball where he averaged 29 points per game.
It was also here that Stabler gained his nickname, 'Snake', following one long and winding touchdown run. While playing at the University of Alabama, Ken began playing in the quarterback position, the position that would bring him to fame in his NFL career.
After graduating from the University of Alabama, Ken Stabler began his career as a professional athlete. Not only did he get an NFL draft, but Ken was also drafted to play baseball and remained a pro baseball player for about three years. He would, however, become more prominent in the NFL than he was anywhere else.
During his career as a professional football player, Ken Stabler would spend most of his time playing for the Oakland Raiders, where he would leave as the Raider's all-time leader in touchdown passes (150), completions (1,486), and passing yards (19,078) and would later go on to be named the 27th greatest quarterback of the post-merger era by Football Nation in 2012. He would go on to retire from his career as an NFL football player in 1994.
After leaving the NFL, Ken Stabler would become a commentator for some years, continuing well into the 2000s.

Throughout his life, Stabler was involved in several charities including the XOXO Stabler Foundation, of which he was the chairman. He once hosted a celebrity golf tournament that raised nearly $600,000 for families of seriously injured children in need of medical treatment.
