Hrbek's career is among the most iconic of the athletes

In 1979, Hrbek would play for the Elizabeth Twins in the Appalachian Rookie League. Kent would play for the Wisconsin Rapids Twins in the Midwest League and then the Visalia Oaks in the California League.

The beginnings of Kent's career in MLB came during the 1978 Major League Baseball Draft. He was drafted by no other team than his home of Minnesota Twins.

His major league debut would come on August 24, 1981. This would be at the Yankee Stadium. This would become a night of dreams for the legendary MLB first baseman. Kent hit the winning home run as the center fielder during the 12th inning. A home run against the famous New York Yankees! He also hit a home run at an exhibition game at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Kent arrived in the major leagues in style!

The following season was incredibly successful for Kent. He came out of the spring training season in 1982, rearing to go. The rookie would have a batting average of .301 with 23 home runs.

Kent would end up second in the voting for Rookie Of The Year at the end of the season. Herb and fellow rookies from the Minnesota Twins in the 1987 World Series team. The Minnesota Twins were incredibly successful in the World Series as well. The Minnesota Twins won two World Series Titles.

The 1987 World Series was when Kent Hrbek had some of his finest moments playing the sport, as he hit a career-best of 34 home runs to assist the Twins in winning the AL West. Hrbek was highly crucial in the run that aided in taking the Twins to the 1987 World Series. Kent Hrbek was also part of the team that won the 1991 World Series.

Hrbek's final contract was the one between 1990-1994. He decided to retire. At the time of his retirement, Hrbek stated that it was due to him being injured frequently, although the times he was injured were fortunately short periods on the sidelines. He had a desire to spend more time with his wife and daughter. The trio lives in their home located in Bloomington, Minnesota.

After his retirement, Kent would work as an unofficial consultant for a baseball movie 'Little Big League'. Lou Collings, a character played in the movie, was loosely based on Kent Hrbek and former minor league player Timothy Busfield.

One of the things that Kent was happy about him being an outspoken member of the MLBPA was revising the uniform code to remove mandatory stirrups. Following the 1994 player strike, it was written into the new labor agreement. Kent had repeatedly expressed his frustrations of having to find the stirrups in his bag minutes before the first pitch was thrown.

Hrbek is a big supporter of charities that work to increase awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS since his father passed because of the disease. He has worked tirelessly to increase awareness about the disease. He hosts an annual charity golf tournament in Minnesota to raise money for ALS research.

He also makes several public appearances to support the cause. The contributions of Kent and his wife in raising awareness about ALS and contributing to combatting the disease are truly commendable.
