In the last few years of his life, Larry Fine was confined to a wheelchair as he was paralyzed. This American comedian lived in the industry retirement community located at Woodland Hills till he died in January 1975. He is buried with his family at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Fine too enjoyed spending money and attending parties. It was only in the '40s that Larry Fine bought a house in Los Angeles, California. He lived in a retirement community in Woodland Hills after he was paralyzed.

The wife of Larry Fine died in 1967 of a heart attack. He was on his way to Rocky Point Park in Rhode Island to perform in a show. John Fine, his son died in 1961 in a car crash, he was 24-years-old.

His wife and son are also buried with him at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Larry Fine's daughter died of cancer in 1989 at the age of 6o.

Larry Fine is best known for this character also called Larry in the 'Three Stooges', a comedy act. This act also featured Curly and Moe Howard.

From starting his career as a performer playing the violin in a type of theatre variety program called vaudeville. It was while working at the Rainbo Gardens that Fine met Ted Healy and Shemp Howard.

The first film of 'The Three Stooges' was released in 1930 and featured Fine Moe Howard, and Ted Healy, the creator of 'The Three Stooges'.

The first performances of the stooges then known as Ted Healy and His Racketeers starred Fine, Moe Howard, and Shemp Howard and ran between 1929 and 1930.

The performers parted ways with Healy and called themselves Howard, Fine, and Howard between 1930 and 1932. They rejoined with Healy and as Shemp Howard left the trio to pursue a solo career, they added Curly Howard.

From 1934 onwards, The Three Stooges were very successful and made many features and about 206 short films. Due to disputes and arguments, they parted ways with Healy in 1934 permanently.

In 1946, Shemp returned to the trio after Curly Howard was unable to continue due to a stroke. However, in 1955 Shemp died and was replaced By Joe Palma and then in 1956 by Joe Besser and Joe DeRita.

In 1959, after Columbia Pictures released movies of the stooges, the series gained popularity and fans.

From the first feature film in 1930 titled Soup to Nuts, Larry Fine starred in all of The Three Stooges movies. In 1970, he appeared for the last time in Kook's Tour as he had to retire from acting due to a stroke.

  • At a young age, Larry Fine had damaged his hand. He had mistaken acid for water and was about to drink it when his father knocked the container out of his hand. The acid spilled on his arm damaging it. Hence, his parents put him for violin lessons to improve his hand muscles. Larry Fine became so good at the violin that his parents thought of sending him to a European music conservatory. His violin lessons came useful as he played this instrument in the Three Stooges.
  • Larry Fine also took up boxing to make his arm stronger. He was good at that too, however, gave it up as his father disapproved of it.
  • The brass star of 'The Three Stooges' on the prominent Hollywood Walk Of Fame is located at 1560 Vine Street. It was inaugurated in 1983 in the presence of over 2000 fans.
