The Amazon River drains in the Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon River flows through Bolivia, Brazil, and French Guiana. It is situated in South America. The Amazon River flows backwards. Scientists argue that the Amazon River flows from a glacial stream in Peruvian Andes. If this is proved true, then the Amazon River would be the longest river in the world.

Yangtze River: The Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world. It is located in China and is also known as the Chang Jiang r=River. It is also the longest river in Asia. The length of the Yangtze River is 3965 mi (6380 km). It rises from the glaciers of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. The river flows through 10 provinces, including Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Shanghai. One third of the population in China lives on the Yangtze River basin. Its source is the Ulan Moron (Wulanmulun) River on the Tanggula Mountains (Qinghai province).

Mississippi-Missouri River: The Mississippi Missouri Jefferson River system forms the fourth longest river system in the world. The Mississippi River is the second longest river in North America. The length of this river is (3730 km). Together with Missouri, the longest river in North America and Jefferson, its length becomes 3902 mi (6275 km). This is because all three rivers meet at a common point, that is, the Missouri River and Mississippi River meet near St.Louis city. Yenisei River: The Yenisei River is the longest river system to pass through Arctic Ocean and enter the Kara Sea. The length of this river is 3445 mi (5,539 km). The source of the Yenisei River is Mungaragiyn-Gol, Dod-Taygasyn-Noor, Mongolia. The river flows through two countries, Mongolia and Russia, and drains in the China Sea. The river is known for its hydroelectric power production and huge oil refinery.

Yellow River: The Yellow River is the second longest river in China. Bayan Har Mountains (Qinghai province) is the source of this river. In the past 4000 years, the river has flooded 1593 times. The length of the Yellow River is 3398 mi (5464 km). The drainage area of this river is 307,000 sq mi (795,000 sq km). The Yellow River basin is said to be the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization. In China, the river is commonly known as Huang Ho.

Ob River: The Ob River is situated in Russia. It has two sources, the Karun River and Biya River. The Ob River length is 3364mi (5410 km).

Parana River: The Parana River or Rio Parana is located in Central South America. It runs through Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. It is the eighth largest river system in the world.

Congo River: The Congo River or the Zaire River is the second longest river in Africa. It flows through the Congo rainforest which is the second largest rainforest in the world. It is 2922 mi (4700 km) long. The river flows from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Parana's tributaries are Tiete, Paranapanema and Iguaçu rivers.

Amur River: The Amur River is 2800 mi (4480 km) long. It is the 10th largest river system in the world. Zeya, Bureya, and Amgen rivers are Amur river tributaries. It has four sources and ends at the mouth of Zeya. The Amur River is in northeast Asia.
