Born on August 26, 1969, in Toronto, Canada, Lorne Abony was six months old when his parents separated. Lorne Abony grew up in Toronto and got his Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University before studying at the Windsor Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor.

In 1994, he finally graduated from the University of Windsor Law School. Subsequently, Lorne Abony worked at the Toronto firm Aird & Berlis. He founded and served as the former CEO of FUN Technologies in 2002, and two years later, he became the youngest CEO to be listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Abony later sold the company's stocks to Liberty Media and became the Executive Chairman of Mood Media Corporation, which was a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2007.

Lorne Abony founded Vested Finance in 2015, was appointed the CEO of FastForward Innovations in 2016 and currently serves as the non-executive chairman of Vemo Education. He is a tennis player and a former member of the Competition Committee of the Association of Tennis Professionals. He was the owner of the Orange County Breakers, a team that competed in the World TeamTennis League.
