The animated series, ‘Miraculous Ladybug’, formally known as ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir', first appeared on air in 2015 and has been extremely popular ever since.

‘Miraculous Ladybug’ follows the lives of two Parisian teenagers, who are capable of transforming into superheroes. The plot is set in Paris, with the main antagonist being Hawk Moth or Shadow Moth, who tries to transform the citizens of Paris into 'akumatized villains'.

The names of the two protagonists are Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng. While the former transforms into Cat Noir or Chat Noir (in French), the latter is Ladybug. The plot not only features the adventures of the superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir but also their unresolved feelings for each other. Additionally, an array of other characters further enhance the plotline, with their own quirks and features.

How old are the characters in ‘Miraculous Ladybug’?

The different characters in ‘Miraculous Ladybug’ belong to different age groups.

Both Ladybug and Car Noir are teenagers belonging to the same class and are 14 years old. Even though they are quite young, they are not too young to save their city from villains. Ladybug's kwami, Tikki, is over 13 billion years old and has provided guidance to Marinette or Ladybug since the beginning. However, Adrien's kwami, Plagg, is much younger and is over 65 million years old. Gabriel Agreste, Adrien Agreste's father is around 35 years old. Based on dialogues from the show, it can be deduced that Adrien's mother was of a similar age.

Apart from these characters, a number of other characters have also been featured in the show. Alya Césaire, who is Mariette's best friend is 17 years old, while Adrien's best friend Nino is 14 years old, the same as Adrien and Marinette. Juleka Couffaine, or the Purple Tigress, who was another one of Marinette's friends, is 16 years of age. Another interesting character named Master Fu, claims to be 186 years old. Master Fu is the oldest human in this storyline and has helped both Ladybug and Cat Noir to save the city against the evil wrath of Shadow Moth.

Who are the main characters in ‘Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir’?

This fascinating series features a number of exciting characters, along with the two Parisian teenagers, who make the plot all the more exciting. Each character has their own habits and patterns, which makes the show even more pleasurable to watch.

Adrien Agreste- This character is one half of the duet of Ladybug, and Cat Noir or Chat Noir, and transforms into the latter. Adrien is a teenager, studying at Collège Françoise Dupont. He has quite a striking appearance, with blonde hair and green eyes. Usually seen in a white shirt and blue jeans, this character depicts a charismatic and reserved personality. He also models for his father's designer brand, by the name of 'Gabriel'. When he changes into Cat Noir, he is in a black cat-suit, that has impressive metal details. This character has also transformed into a number of other superheroes, like Cat Blanc and Aspik.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng- A budding fashion designer, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is not only a regular student but also the one who transforms into Ladybug to save the citizens of Paris. Being half-Chinese and half-French, Marinette has black hair and blue eyes. Her regular clothes include a white t-shirt with a dark blazer on top, while her Ladybug outfit is a red jumpsuit with a black collar and black spots. She also wears a red face mask with black dots, that mimics the appearance of a ladybug. Being a friendly personality, Marinette's friends included Alya, Rose, Juleka, and Alix. The story also depicts how Marienette has a crush on Adrien and is often too nervous to even speak to him.

Tikki and Plagg- Both these characters are the kwamis that enable Marinette and Adrian to transform into their alter egos. While Tikki is the kwami signifying creation, Plagg is the exact opposite and signifies destruction. Tikki very closely resembles a ladybug, with a red body and black spots, and Plagg has more of a cat-like appearance, thanks to his pointed ears and black body. Even personality-wise, both these kwamis could not be any further from each other. Tikki is portrayed as being quite serious and positive in nature, providing Marinette with guidance and support. On the contrary, Plagg is lazy and not as involved in Adrien's issues. Even when he does end up giving some advice to Adrien, it is usually destructive and is not of much help.

Hawk Moth- Also known as Shadow Moth, the true identity of the antagonist of ‘Miraculous Ladybug’ is quite the surprise. Shadow Moth is actually Gabriel Agreste, who is a famous fashion designer, but more importantly, Adrien's father. In terms of appearance, Gabriel has quite a memorable look, with rose-tinted skin and cerulean eyes. He always looks quite polished in his glasses and pale suit. However, as Shadow Moth, his character gets a much more flamboyant makeover. Playing the antagonist, he is seen donning a dark purple shirt with a butterfly-shaped collar. He also wears a silver mask and carried a cane as his weapon. Both as Gabriel and as Shadow Moth, this character has been portrayed as being cold, clever, and determined. Gabriel Agreste is also an overprotective and strict father to Adrien.

The protagonists of Miraculous Ladybug are teenagers.

Is Adrien in love with Ladybug?

The plot of ‘Miraculous Ladybug’ is further enhanced by the blossoming love story of Adrian Agreste, Marinette Dupain, and their alter egos.

In the story, the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir are not directly in love with each other. However, interestingly, Adrien is in love with Ladybug, without knowing her true identity. Having a huge crush on Ladybug, Adrien even attempts to write a poem for her to profess his feelings but eventually ends up throwing the poem away. Every time Ladybug is around him, he has been caught blushing at her and even losing himself in her eyes. If this wasn't cute enough, Adrien has at times also fought alongside Ladybug, while himself being injured.

What does Izzy Agreste look like?

The name Izzy Agreste has got quite popular in the Miraculous Ladybug fandom. She is actually a made-up character by the fandom. Izzy Agreste is essentially deemed to be Adrien Agreste's sister and has an appearance quite similar to him.

Izzy Agreste is portrayed as having beautiful green eyes and blonde hair. Her civilian clothes include a green sweater on top of a white vest. The sweater has some glitter detailing. On the bottom, she is seen wearing white ripped jeans and black sneakers.

Izzy's alter-ego is known as Mysterious Moth, who was created to save Shadow Moth and fight against Ladybug and Chat Noir. When Izzy turns into Mysterious Moth, her outfit goes through a spectacular change. In this avatar, she is depicted in a black jumpsuit, with a gray mask to cover her face and head. Her eyes change into a tone of purple when she has her mask on. She also has black antennae and purple wings.
