About Bo Jackson

Bo Jackson is a former professional football and baseball player.
Born on the November 30, 1962, Bo Jackson is the only athlete who has been given an All-Star in both football and baseball in the entire history of the sports. His elite achievements in various sports have helped him earn a good reputation and helped him emerge as one of the finest American athletes.
Bo Jackson claimed the Heisman Trophy when playing for the Auburn Tigers as a running back in college football in 1985. He took part in the National Football League for the Los Angeles Raiders. In NFL history, Bo played for four seasons, and in Major League Baseball, he played for the Chicago White Sox, the Kansas City Royals, and California Angels.
From 1986-1990, Jackson played for Kansas City Royals, from 1991-1993, Chicago White Sox, and in 1994 for California Angels. Also, in the 1986 draft, he turned down the offer of $7.6 million from the Buccaneers in front of the Kansas City Royals. In 1996, Bo was formally inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
From 1989-1990, people got to know him beyond sports mainly through a series of advertisement campaigns. These include Bo Knows and Nike with Bo Diddley, promoting a cross-training athletic shoe. Nike continues to sign deals with Jackson, even though he has not played in decades, so he continues to earn at least $1 million every year from Nike.
A hip injury in 1991 ended both his professional football career and baseball career in 1994. Before announcing his retirement during the strike in 1994, Bo was signed by the California Angels as a free agent. Also, in 1993, he returned to the Chicago White Sox and played his first match against the New York Yankees. After that, Bo Jackson planned to expand his career into other pursuits.
Jackson, the eighth of 10 children, was raised in Bessemer, Alabama. He was born Vincent Edward Jackson. His mother really liked the actor, Vince Edwards, so she named her child after him. Bo Jackson often used to get into trouble, which is why he was described as a wild boar hog by his family.

Bo Jackson joined McCalla School and soon became a part of the baseball team. He managed to hit 20 home runs in just 25 matches during his senior season. Jackson also won the state championship twice in the decathlon. Bo made a commanding point lead every time he became a champion. However, Bo never competed in the 1,500m because he hated the distance. He set state school records for triple jump and high jump in 1982.
The New York Yankees picked Bo Jackson in June 1981 in the MLB draft's second round. However, he preferred to go ahead with a football scholarship and joined Auburn University because he promised his mother to be the first to go to a major college in the family.
First, Pat Dye recruited him and then Booby Wallace, who was the assistant coach at Auburn. At Auburn University, he easily proved to be an athlete best in both football and baseball. After that, he shared the backfield with Lionel 'Little Train' James, quarterback Randy Campbell, and Tommie Agee.
In 1985, Bo Jackson batted .401 with 43 RBI and 17 home runs against the Georgia Bulldogs in a baseball match. This was in Athens, Georgia, and this win led Auburn University to claim the victory with a double and three home runs.
While playing for the Auburn Tigers football team, Bo Jackson ran for 4,303 career yards. It became the fourth-best performance in the history of the SEC (Southeastern Conference). He finished his career by setting a minimum of 400 rushes in the SEC record and an average of 6.6 yards (6.04 m) per carry.

The bike tour continued for five days when he visited the towns that had been devastated. He was accompanied by Lance Armstrong, Scottie Pippen, Brett Favre, and Ken Griffey Jr. This fundraiser gathered more than $1.1 million for the Alabama Governor's Emergency Relief Fund.
