Alexander O'Neal released his debut album, 'Alexander O'Neal', in 1985, launching his career as a professional singer. He has since released nine studio albums, six compilations, and two live albums.
It was reported that, in the early '80s, O'Neal met with Morris Day and Prince, to discuss forming a band. The band, which was to be known as The Time, would be signed with Warner Bros label. O'Neal was later replaced as lead singer, following a disagreement with Prince.
