Amit Duvdevani was born on November 7, 1974, in Israel. He studied the keyboard for nine years, beginning at the age of seven, before shifting his focus to heavy metal and punk music. Amit played piano and composed the majority of the songs for the Haifa punk rock band Enzyme. Amit attended his first trance party in 1991, only a week before being drafted into the Israeli army where he was first nicknamed Duvdev. He has characterized this encounter as life-changing on many occasions, saying that from then on, all he could think about was trance music. After completing his national service, Amit spent a year in India (mostly in Goa) before deciding to pursue a career in music. On four occasions, he worked with a Shidapu member. He worked on four tunes with a member of Shidapu, but they were never published.
Duvdevani and Erez Aizen began playing together in 1998. They began by releasing a few tunes, such as Shidapu & Duvdev. These tunes were happier and simpler. They later established the duo band, Infected Mushroom and began work on their debut album.
