In January 1990, Andrew Stanton began working at Pixar Animation Studios. He was the second animator hired by the business, making him its ninth employee. The company did not yet have an animation studio at the time, so the animation group worked on television commercials as a first step toward creating the first computer-animated feature.

Together with John Lasseter, Pete Docter, and Joe Ranft, Stanton completed the first Brain Trust and contributed to creating the concept for Pixar's first feature-length animated film, 'Toy Story' for which he got an Academy Award nomination.

In 1987, he made his debut as the director, writer, and voice actor of the animated short 'A Story' and wrote for the television series 'Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures'.

He wrote and directed 'Finding Nemo' for Pixar in 2003, 'Wall-E' in 2008, 'A Bug's Life' in 1998 (as co-director), and 'John Carter', his first live-action movie.

Returning in 1999, Stanton wrote the acclaimed prequel to 'Toy Story', 'Toy Story 2', and also provided Emperor Zurg's voice. In the future, he would pen 'Monsters, Inc'. He was frequently credited by Docter, the director of 'Monsters, Inc.', as the brainchild behind the notion that monsters produced screams to use as energy in their city.

'Toy Story 3' was co-written by Stanton and Michael Arndt in 2010. Lasseter and Lee Unkrich, the movie's director, cried when he first described the scene of the toys being burned.

Stanton and fellow Pixar director Pete Docter were both appointed vice presidents of creativity at the studio following The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Pixar in 2006. As an executive producer and coveted member of the studio's brain trust, Stanton contributed his ideas and mentorial skills to the animated features 'Up', 'Inside Out', 'Brave', 'Ratatouille', 'Monsters University', and 'The Good Dinosaur'.

On 'Ralph Breaks the Internet', Stanton was acknowledged as a narrative guru who assisted the director and former classmate Rich Moore in developing the story after former chief creative officer Lasseter left Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
