She was raised in Arthur Avenue famously called 'Little Italy' in the Bronx in New York. She did her high school at Christopher Columbus High School. Anne has educated herself in acting at HB Studio, the Actors Studio, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She attended a workshop for women's education at the University of California in L.A. Anne first chose the surname Marno and appeared in several Television Dramas until American film producer Darryl Zanuck advised her to use 'Bancroft' instead.
