Anson Williams portrayed Potsie Weber in 'Love and Happy Days', which is a segment of the anthology comedy TV series 'Love, American Style' in 1972. In the American spin-off sitcom 'Happy Days', he played the same role as Warren 'Potsie' Weber from 1974-1984, along with actors Ron Howard, Marion Ross, and Henry Winkler, who played Richie, Marion, and Fonzie.

He remained throughout the sitcom's entire run, and he lent his voice when the characters formed a band and performed in various places.

Williams was a nominee for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the character of Potsie. Williams started to direct short programs for children and afterschool specials like 'No Greater Gift' and 'The Drug Knot' in 1985 and 1986, respectively. He is a prominent television director and has directed episodes on shows like 'Lizzie McGuire', 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager', 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch', 'Melrose Place', 'Star Trek: Voyager, and Xena: Warrior Princess'.
