Yule Kilcher was the father of Atz Kilcher. He was a state senator and was the second person who crossed the Harding Icefield of Alaska. He passed away in 1998. Ruth Kilcher was Atz's mother. In the 1930s, to get away from World War II, Atz's parents shifted from Switzerland to Alaska and settled in the city of Homer. There Yule Kilcher built Kilcher Homestead on federal land of 160 acres (64.7 ha). He built the Kilcher Family Trust in the 1990s, he included all his children as trusty members, and they would work for the land and the homestead to protect the land in the future.
In 1974, the Kilcher family moved to Anchorage, about 218 mi (350 km) southeast of Homer, to settle on the family’s 770 acres (311 ha) homestead. In 1981, again, they shifted to Homer. Atz's parents had eight children. He was the fourth among them and the eldest son of his parents.
He has one brother named Otto, who was the co-star of the TV show. And six sisters named Fay Graham, Sunrise Sjoberg, Catkin Kilcher Burton, Stellavera Kilcher, Mossy Kilcher and Wurtilla Hepp.
After making a road near their house, they went to the nearest public school. In Europe, he studied at a private high school for two years. During that time, he participated in sports like basketball, skiing, cross country, and wrestling.
At present, Bonnie Dupree is the partner of Atz Kilcher.
