His win also includes the Texas Motor Speedway, making him achieve four consecutive titles on the track. Texas Motor Speedway is notable as it was his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title.
In 2004, Brendan Gaughan jumped to the Nextel Cup Series. He came second in the Rookie of the Year rankings. Meanwhile, he stood 28th in the overall standings. In 2013, Brendan Gaughan competed in the Truck Series again. The following year, he won Road America, his first Nationwide Series race. After battling with Chase Elliott, he crossed him on the final lap as Elliot ran out of gas. He became the winner of the race. Winning this race made him emotional as he was driving a car dedicated to his late grandfather, Jackie Gaughan.
In 2015, Brendan Gaughan started competing in the Xfinity Series full-time. He could not reach the victory lane as he did in the previous season. His best achievement in the Xfinity Series was being a runner-up in California.
On February 9, 2020, Brendan Gaughan competed in NASCAR's coveted and most respected race, Daytona 500. He recorded the second-fastest qualifying speed among the non-charter teams. His last NASCAR race was the YellaWood 500. Then, he retired from racing. Following this, he was named the vice president of Beard Motorsports' racing operations.
Brendan Gaughan won the 2002 Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year and the 2003 NASCAR Crafstman Truck Series' Most Popular Driver.
