The 1966 Le Man's saw Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon won the race in a Ford GT40 over Ken Miles, who reached the finishing line but traveled less distance due to McLaren's start. The McLaren cars dominated the Can-Am series of 1967 and 1968 with five out of six wins. Bruce Mclaren entered the 1959 United States Grand Prix with a stunning victory at 22, the youngest at the time and for the next four decades. Bruce has 104 entries in Formula One Championship history and resounding four wins to his legacy. He died on 2 June 1970 while test-driving one of his inventions at Goodwood Circuit, England, UK.

Bruce McLaren mostly spent his free hours in his dad's workshop, developing his passion for races, motor racing, and sports cars.

Bruce Mclaren started racing in a restored Austin-7 Ulster in 1952, a frightened competition license holder, then upgraded to an Austin- Healey and a Ford 10 special. In 1957-58 He ended up as Runners-Up at the New Zealand Championship series with his modified and upgraded Formula Two Cooper-Climax sports racing car. Bruce stunned the motorsports community and was noticed by Jack Brabham and sponsored for a 'driver to Europe' tour by the New Zealand International Grand Prix Organization to experience the best.

McLaren became a Cooper factory F1 driver and starts the race for them; and won the 1959 USA Grand Prix tournament, the youngest to do so then, he won the Argentine Grand Prix, and He then went on to win the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix and founded McLaren Automotive in 1963. Bruce Mclaren won the 1966 24 hours Le Man's with his co-driver Chris Amon and his cars won all the 11 races in the 1969 Can-Am series. By then, he was joined by Kiwi Hulme, the 1967 world champion with Brabham.

Apart from being a racer, the McLaren racing team is his most significant legacy stemming from his abilities as an analyst, engineer, and manager.
