Cecil P. Buddy Hall is a professional billiards player from America.
He is considered the best of the best in the nine-ball pool and is recognized by many as a living pool legend.
Buddy Hall started playing pool at the age of 14 in a soda shop in his hometown Metropolis, Illinois. Hall was not allowed into many local pool rooms. Yet, Hall was determined with his passion and circumvented the problem by obtaining a new birth certificate from a local judge stating he was of legal age. It was not long before Buddy Hall dominated the table, often not giving his opponents a chance to play. He went on to win at the age of 17, and his rise to fame started when he entered the Johnston City Tournaments in 1970. His first professional event was at age 23 in 1968.
Nicknamed as The Rifleman for his impeccable accuracy, Buddy Hall played in Dayton tournaments for many years and often took the first prize home. He edged Allen Hopkins in 1982 to become the winner of Caesar's Tahoe Nine-ball Championship. His win was also announced on ESPN, which was also a terrific achievement as it was the first-ever mention of a billiards player on the cable network.
Buddy Hall won 1/3 of all the MPBA Tournaments in the '80s. A book was published titled 'Rags To Rifleman', which is a biography of his life and career. Buddy Hall has had a prolific career with victory in over 70 professional tournaments, including 100 bar table tournaments. He also has won many world titles, and opponents cannot help but appreciate his skill at the table. He was the 39th inductee into the Billiards Congress of America's Hall Of Fame.
