Her father, James Nwoye Adichie, served as a statistics professor at the University of Nigeria, and her mother, Grace Ifeoma, was the first female registrar of the same university. Adichie has five siblings, and her family is a part of the Igbo group, an ethnic tribe in Nigeria. They have their ancestral home in Abba in the Anambra State.
