Kennedy High School and later was enrolled in New York University's famed Tisch School of the Arts' directors program.

Gremlins(1984) was a huge hit in his career, that was produced in a collaboration between him and popular film director Steven Spielberg. 'Adventures In Babysitting', his first film, was released in 1987 to mixed reviews. But it was Columbus's first of three collaborations with writer and director John Hughes for the 1990's famous film 'Home Alone' that cemented his place among Hollywood's elite list. He made the third 'Harry Potter' film series 'Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban' (2004), which was directed by Alfonso Cuarón. After being physically and emotionally exhausted, he left producing the 'Harry Potter' series.
