Songs such as 'My City,' 'Gone,' and 'Brass In Pocket' gave the band fame and name. These songs were the anthem of the '80s and '70s, and Chrissie Hynde ruled the '70s. The song 'Brass In Pocket' was written by James Honeyman-Scott. Other songs by the band include 'I'll Stand By You' and 'Middle Of The Road.'

Besides her work with her band, The Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde has also worked on other musical projects. In 1978, Chrissie Hynde joined the Moors Murderers band for a brief period and spent little time before recording a demo tape to give it to the owner of Label Real Records, Dave Hill. He became Chrissie Hynde's manager and paid for her rehearsal room in London. It was he who asked her to form her band.

The singer-songwriter soon met Pete Farndon, the bassist, and got on board Martin Chambers for vocals and drums and James Honeyman Scott for keyboard, guitar, and vocals. Chrissie Hynde would be present for lead vocals and guitar. This was The Pretenders, and their first gig was in Paris in a club. In January 1979, they released their first single. A second single followed in June, which were both hits in the United Kingdom.

Chrissie Hynde released the 'Stockholm' album in 2014. The album featured contributions from John McEnroe and Neil Young. Chrissie Hynde also released other covers with Valve Bone Woe in 2019 in the jazz and pop genres, and Marius de Vries produced it.
