His mother first spotted him when he was 11 months old, seated on top of the toilet seat. Christiane was already alarming other moms when he climbed to the top of the jungle gym in the park at the age of 18 months. Others disapproved of Hosoi's actions and accused his mother of not instructing and ignoring him because of his bold acts. This wasn't the end of it. Hosoi would frequently climb the tallest tree at his school and sit there all day, refusing to come down unless his parents persuaded him. Christian says, 'I've always wanted to be in the sky'. Skating appealed to him because of his attraction to heights. As early as the age of seven, he began skating with legends such as Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Shogo Kubo, and Stacy Peralta. His father, Ivan 'Pops' Hosoi, became the manager of the Marina Del Rey Skatepark, where he perfected his skills.

When it comes to his educational background, Christian dropped out of school at a young age to focus on honing his skating abilities. In January of 2000, Hosoi was apprehended at the Honolulu airport. He was sentenced to a Hawaiian prison, where he completed his high school education and received his GED. In addition, he finished various bible study courses and received numerous diplomas for his biblical expertise.
